Chromalox Strip Heaters
Chromalox Strip Heaters are designed for clamp-on heating of tanks or platens and for air heating in enclosed spaces including control panels. The heaters are made with coiled resistor wire embedded into a magnesium refractory (MGO) which has two major distinct properties: excellent heat transfer and excellent electrical insulation. Strip heaters cannot be custom made, the dies that they are made in are fixed in length.
Chromalox Strip heaters have a watt density value measured in watts per square inch. The watt density of the element, or watts per square inch of heated area, should be low for heating asphalt, molasses and other thick substances with low heat transferability. It can be higher for heating air, metals and other heat-conducting materials.
Type OT Chromalox Strip heaters have offset terminals at one end. Other styles are parallel, centered and S style (one at each end) terminal configurations.
Chromalox Strip heaters can be up to 72 inches in length, 3kw, and 120-480 volts. The maximum sheath temperature in Fahrenheit for Rust-Resisting Iron is 750 and for Chrome Steel is 1200 degrees.
